ANTI-DOOMSCROLLING, WITHOUT THE DRAMA

An anti-doomscrolling extension you don’t have to fight.

If hard blockers make you reinstall the app five minutes later, try a physical speed bump instead. scrollharder.lol makes the next Short, Reel, or post take effort while keeping the feed available.

Short answer: scrollharder.lol is a Chrome/Brave extension that adds adjustable scroll resistance to YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and X. It is designed for awareness and choice, not forced abstinence.

Why friction can work better than a hard stop

A blocker turns the decision into a fight: keep the tool enabled or disable it. A friction tool changes the moment itself. Your thumb can still continue, but the extra input makes “one more” visible.

That is useful when your goal is not to quit the internet. You may want to check a feed, watch a specific clip, or take a short break—just without handing the next 45 minutes to an endless queue.

What you get in V1

  • Adjustable effort: choose a friction level from 50:1 to 2500:1.
  • Site controls: turn friction on for YouTube Shorts, X, Instagram Reels, or any combination.
  • Keyboard guard: common feed-advance shortcuts are suppressed while friction is active.
  • Local progress: your input pixels, sessions, and playful stadium run stay in chrome.storage.local.

What it does not do

It does not collect feed content, require an account, or pretend optional off-hours blocking exists. The V1 job is smaller: add enough effort to give you a choice.

Questions people ask

Can I still scroll after installing it?

Yes. scrollharder.lol does not block the feed. It translates more input into less movement while friction is enabled.

Does it work on every website?

V1 is focused on YouTube Shorts, X, and Instagram Reels. You can control which of those supported feeds gets friction.

Is my browsing data sent anywhere?

No extension telemetry or feed-content collection is part of V1. Effort and session stats are kept locally in your browser.
